Europe- Africa conference
For more than 30 years, the Aspen Institute France has been organizing renowned international conferences that bring together a diverse range of stakeholders – leaders from the political and business worlds, academic experts, and media professionals, to exchange views on shared issues.
The Europe-Africa Meetings are one of the Aspen Institute France’s flagship programs. Launched in 1994 at the initiative of Raymond Barre, they bring together high-level leaders and experts every two years to tackle issues related to the development of relations between Africa and Europe.
This pioneering initiative has laid the groundwork for a new partnership between the two continents, moving beyond the donor-recipient dynamic to develop a new paradigm of mutual empowerment.
Beyond the political sphere, the dialogue is open to all branches of the economy. The contributions of stakeholders from the business community, nongovernmental organizations, multinational corporations, and civil society, feed into the development of initiative, cross-sectoral action plans.
Today, the need for a dialogue based on solidarity between the two continents has never been greater. The context of post-health crisis economic recovery calls on us to define a new relationship that meets everyone’s aspirations.
“Thanks to their format, the great diversity of guests, and the frank and sincere nature of the discussions, the Aspen Europe-Africa Meetings, which I have had the pleasure of chairing since 2017, provide an exceptional forum for reflection. ” Pascal LAMY, Former Director-General l’Organisation Mondiale du Commerce, President of Aspen’s Europe – Africa Forum.
